How Long Does a Body Wax Appointment Take? What Changes by Area

You’ve got an opening in your day, and you’re trying to figure out whether a wax will fit. Fair question. Before you move your lunch break around or arrange school pickup, you probably want to know whether you’re booking a quick underarm appointment or something that needs a larger spot on the calendar.

The answer depends on what you’re having waxed. At Gold Rush Esthetics, a Brazilian is typically completed in under 15 minutes. A Brazilian with underarms and inner thighs is a different booking, though. So is a back wax. The timing for one service doesn’t tell you how long all the others will take.

The areas you choose, your hair, and whether you’re new to those services all help determine your body wax appointment length. We also need enough room to answer your questions and pay attention to your skin.

Start with the body waxing services at Gold Rush and the full service menu. Once you know what you want done, we can give you a much more useful answer about timing.

First, what do you mean by a “full body wax”?

Woman showing off her smooth skin.

People searching “how long does a full body wax take” aren’t necessarily asking about the same appointment.

You might mean a Brazilian and underarms because those are the two areas you usually shave. Someone else might want their arms and back waxed. Another person may be picturing practically everything from the neck down.

That’s why a general time estimate can be misleading. Before we can talk about how long you’ll be here, we need to know which areas you want included.

Gold Rush’s body-waxing menu lists half arms, back, and underarms. The studio also offers Brazilian, bikini, inner-thigh, and full-butt services. You can choose the areas that matter to you without assuming you need every service on the menu.

And please don’t worry about using the correct name right away. “The hair on my forearms” is a perfectly useful description. So is “I want my underarms done when I come in for my Brazilian.”

What causes confusion is booking one service and expecting several. You may think an additional area looks small enough to handle while you’re already here, but it still needs time. Mention it when booking so we can plan for it.

Underarms, half arms, and back: why the timing changes

The size of the area is a good starting point. There’s more skin to work across on a back than an underarm. But size alone doesn’t explain everything.

Hair can change direction within the same area. Some sections have heavier growth than others. The body also needs to be positioned so I can reach the hair and support the skin properly. Those details affect how the service moves along.

Underarms

An underarm wax is generally one of the shorter body-waxing services because the treatment area is small. It can be a practical addition to a Brazilian, especially when you’d like to handle both during the same visit.

Small doesn’t mean there’s nothing to consider, though. Underarm hair may grow in more than one direction, and raising your arm helps expose the area for waxing. The work follows your actual hair pattern.

When someone asks, “How long does an underarm wax take?” I also want to know whether they’re booking it alone or adding it to something else. That gives us the right appointment to discuss.

One detail that’s easy to overlook: you can be a regular Brazilian client and still be brand-new to underarm waxing. Your Brazilian may be ready for its usual appointment while your underarms were shaved a few days ago. Let me know so we can check that both areas are ready.

Half arms

For Gold Rush’s half-arm service, you’re choosing shoulder to elbow or elbow to wrist. Make sure the section you want matches what you book. “Arms” can mean something different in your head than it does on a service menu.

There’s also more to an arm than the surface you see when you look down at it. Hair can continue around the sides and underneath, so we need access to the whole area being treated. You may need to turn or reposition your arm as the service progresses.

Tell me whether you want upper or lower arms, and ask about any additional coverage before confirming the appointment. That’s especially helpful for a first visit, when you haven’t yet seen how the service boundaries apply to you.

Back

A back wax covers a larger surface, and the amount of hair across it can vary quite a bit. One client may have scattered growth. Another may have dense hair across most of the back.

Both can book a full-back wax, which is the back service listed at Gold Rush. Their hair won’t necessarily need identical handling.

There’s time involved in preparing the area, working across it, and checking the result. A larger area also gives us more places where the density or direction of growth might change.

Ask about any hair beyond the back that you also want removed. Don’t assume neighboring areas are included simply because the hair continues there.

Our guide to back waxing goes into the service itself. For scheduling, the main thing to remember is that a back wax needs its own appointment time, even when you’re combining it with another area.

What happens when you add a Brazilian?

Brazilian waxing is my specialty. After 13 years, thousands of Brazilians, and continued training, I’ve had a lot of practice making the service efficient while staying thorough and protecting the skin.

I know you probably have somewhere else to be afterward. I also know you don’t want to leave wondering whether the appointment was quick because something got skipped.

That’s why the under-15-minute timing belongs to the Brazilian service. It shouldn’t become your estimate for a Brazilian plus every other area you’d like waxed that day.

At Gold Rush, a Brazilian wax allows you to choose how much hair is removed from the front, labia, and back area. Brazilian and bikini services here are for vulva anatomy.

For coverage beyond the Brazilian, you can also book inner thighs or full butt. The inner-thigh service extends from outside your bikini line down to the lower portion of your upper thigh. Full butt covers the cheeks as well as the area between them.

Those areas can be close together on your body and still require separate time in the booking. Our inner-thigh and full-butt guide can help you decide which, if either, you want.

Leaving some hair is fine too. You don’t have to remove everything. Just don’t select a different service because you assume leaving a strip will make the appointment shorter. Tell me your preference, and we’ll make sure the booking fits.

The things that can change how an appointment goes

Even with the same services selected, your visit may not feel exactly like a friend’s appointment or your own last wax. A few details make a difference.

How much hair there is, and whether it’s ready

Hair density and hair length are two separate things.

Density tells me how tightly the hairs are grouped. Length tells me whether there’s enough growth for effective removal. A dense patch may need a different approach, while very short hairs may need more time to grow before they can be waxed.

Giving that appointment more time won’t make the short hairs longer. Unfortunately, I can’t negotiate with them.

This is why shaving right before your visit doesn’t help, even if you’re trying to reduce the amount of hair I have to deal with. It can leave part of the area ready to wax and another part needing more growth.

Tell me when you last shaved each area. You don’t need to apologize or try to fix it first. I’d rather have accurate information and help you plan than have you arrive after some well-intentioned trimming that went a little too far.

Whether the service is new to you

A first appointment usually comes with questions. You might want to know what clothing to remove, how you’ll be positioned, or exactly where the waxing stops.

Those are reasonable things to ask before someone starts applying wax.

The amount of explanation you need can affect the visit, but being a first-time client doesn’t automatically mean the hair removal will take much longer. Some people want a quick overview. Others feel better talking through a few details.

When asking about timing, mention that the service is new to you. The same goes for returning after a long break. Your appointment from a year ago can give you some context, but it may not be the best estimate for what you need now.

What has changed since your last visit

With regular clients, we already know each other. You know what to expect, and I’m familiar with your preferences. That makes the appointment easier to settle into.

Still, mention anything new. Maybe you shaved an area you usually wax. Maybe you’ve changed products, your skin feels different, or you want more coverage this time.

It’s easy to think, “She knows what I normally get,” and forget to mention that today isn’t quite the usual appointment.

Also, less visible regrowth doesn’t mean you should book a smaller service. Keep booking the area you want treated unless we’ve discussed a change. For help with the weeks between appointments, our Brazilian and bikini waxing schedule guide covers that separately.

How your skin is doing

I’m paying attention to the skin as well as the hair. Let me know about changes in products, medications, or skin concerns before we begin so we can discuss whether they affect your service.

During the appointment, speak up if you need a moment or something feels uncomfortable. You aren’t holding up the process by telling me what’s happening.

Sometimes a concern means adjusting the plan. Sometimes an area needs to be left alone. A longer appointment isn’t automatically the solution, and protecting your skin matters more than completing every service you originally had in mind.

What this looks like on an actual calendar

Say you want underarms waxed during your lunch break. You need the time for that service, plus getting to the studio and back. Confirm the appointment duration before deciding whether the break is long enough. A video showing a few quick wax removals won’t tell you when you’ll be back at your desk.

Now say you’re keeping your usual Brazilian appointment but adding underarms for the first time. That’s a change to the booking, even though you’re already coming in. Select both services and check whether your underarm hair is ready. Don’t use your usual Brazilian departure time to schedule whatever comes next.

Or perhaps you want a back wax and half arms before a trip. There are two larger treatment areas to account for, and you’ll want the coverage clear for both. Ask about the total appointment before putting another commitment immediately afterward.

These are ordinary scheduling questions. You don’t need to figure out the minutes yourself. You just need to tell us what you want done and whether there’s a particular time you need to leave.

How much time should you set aside?

Use the confirmed length of your complete booking as the starting point. Then account for your trip, arrival, and getting back to wherever you need to be.

Getting ready for the service, dressing afterward, asking an aftercare question, and checking out are all part of the visit. Make sure you understand whether the time you’ve been given refers to the whole appointment or only the waxing.

Gold Rush is at 323 S Pearl Street in Denver’s Wash Park neighborhood, with a large private client parking lot. You’ll receive parking directions by text after booking. The studio’s arrival guidance is about five minutes early, which gives you a chance to get settled.

Read the directions before you leave for your first visit. Having a parking lot helps, but you’ll still want to allow for the drive. Coming from Cherry Creek on a quiet afternoon may feel different from making the trip from Greenwood Village around a busy part of the day.

Before booking, check these four things:

  • Have you selected every area you want waxed?

  • Is any of it a first-time service, or was it shaved recently?

  • Have you confirmed the time needed for the full combination?

  • Does your calendar allow for the visit and travel?

A firm departure time is worth mentioning beforehand. “I need to leave by one” is much easier to work with while choosing an appointment than halfway through a service.

Once you find a time that works comfortably, booking the next one or two visits can make the routine easier. Many of my regulars prefer to have those appointments settled instead of looking for an opening each month.

Read the prep text before trying to help

Gold Rush sends detailed preparation instructions after you book. Give them a read, even if you’ve been waxed elsewhere. You don’t need to piece together advice from five different studios and hope it all applies.

Ask about uncertain hair length before the appointment. Leave last-minute trimming alone unless you’ve been told otherwise, and avoid adding extra steps because you think more preparation must be better.

The same applies to your plans afterward. A wax might fit neatly before another activity on the calendar, but check that activity against your aftercare instructions too. It’s easier to move something ahead of time than realize at checkout that your next stop needs rethinking.

There’s no expectation that you arrive knowing everything. The prep text gives you a starting point, and you can ask about whatever is still unclear.

Let’s make the appointment fit your day

You want to know how much time to set aside, and that’s a reasonable thing to want before booking.

Choose the areas you’d like waxed, tell us anything relevant about your hair or previous experience, and confirm the time for that visit. You don’t have to guess based on someone else’s Brazilian or book a shorter service to make it fit.

At Gold Rush Esthetics, I want you to have a thorough wax, feel comfortable asking questions, and leave with your skin properly cared for. Getting you back to your day matters too. A clear booking helps us do all of that without you spending the appointment wondering whether you’re about to be late.
